Richard Henkle is a teacher, soccer coach, former Capitol Hill staffer, husband, and father of two. Born in Colorado and raised in Garden City, Kansas, Richard has been a resident of Northern Virginia since 2004. After earning his B.S. in political science, he worked for four different Members of Congress over his ten-year political career before leaving the Hill to further his passion for literature.
While pursuing his M.A. at Marymount University, he presented papers at a half dozen conferences including those hosted by Sigma Tau Delta (English Honor Society) and Pop Culture Association/American Culture Association, earning honorable mention for his essay, “Disregard Females, Acquire Currency: The Church in Chaucer’s ‘Shipman’s Tale’.”
Since 2016, he has taught middle and high school humanities courses and is a part of the leadership team for the Washington/Arlington chapter of the National Catholic Forensics League. He enjoys soccer, playing board games, cooking, and a good Hendrick’s martini. He is the co-founder and prose editor of the journal Two Fingers Lit. His work appears or is forthcoming in Alternative Field, Burnt Breakfast, The Daily Drunk, Inkblot, Necro, Raised Brow Press, and Reservoir Road.
Henkle is at work on his first novel.
